THE GALLERY

Located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, in the heart of the Carré Rive Gauche, 1831 Art Gallery is a meeting place for collectors, artists and architecture and design professionals. It’s a singular gallery, founded in 2014 by Aude and Jean-Louis Herlédan, an internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor and a passionate collector, respectively. It’s a place where the arts converse. The curation of 1831 Art Gallery is inspired by a taste for the decorative arts, modernist architecture and a touch of ethnicity.
The gallery organizes thematic exhibitions featuring contemporary artists from around the world, and collaborates with numerous internationally recognized galleries, institutions and foundations.
A member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art, Paris Design Week, Carré Rive Gauche and the Créateurs Design Association, the gallery is deeply involved in promoting the French contemporary art scene internationally.
The gallery collaborates with institutions such as the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP) under the aegis of the French Ministry of Culture, the Institut Français and the Villa Albertine in the United States, to organize international exhibitions and fairs.

1831 Art Gallery also accompanies its artists on numerous institutional projects such as “1 immeuble -1 œuvre”, the co-financing of monographic catalogs, artist residencies, international exhibitions and fairs, or through its links with the Fonds Régionaux d’Art Contemporain…

The gallery maintains a fruitful collaboration with a large network of art and design professionals, architecture studios and interior designers. These partnerships are the subject of off-site exhibitions throughout the year, notably in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Miami, Florence and soon Dubai.
As a member of leading associations, the gallery takes part in the annual rendez-vous of artistic life in Paris: Paris Design Week (in January and September), Paris Gallery Weekend (in May), events organized by Carré Rive Gauche (in June, September and December), and Starting Sunday (in October).

Jean-Louis Herlédan
Founder

Biography
Jean-Louis Herlédan is a graduate of the École Estienne – École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Graphiques. After studying art history and communication sciences and techniques, he quickly set up a communications group, which he ran for 25 years. Then, in keeping with his family history, he created 1831 Art Gallery (1831 being the year of birth of one of his ancestors, who was an important patron of the arts at the end of the 19th century). His mother was also an antique dealer, so it was simply a matter of continuing the family tradition…
Jean-Louis Herlédan was president of Carré Rive Gauche and is also a member of the Créateurs Design Association (CDA), which awards the most important prizes dedicated to the arts, architecture, and design each year. The CDA is deeply committed to promoting a thriving cultural ecosystem that celebrates and elevates creative expression around the world. By encouraging innovation, pushing the boundaries of creativity, and advocating for diverse representation.
The 320 members of the CDA form an international community where creativity and innovation are the essence of a collective goal. Together, they explore new horizons, celebrate artistic excellence, and foster an inclusive environment for all forms of creative expression.

OUR SERVICES

Deliveries, customs formalities and installations

We organize all our art transports with the greatest care, according to the type of work to be transported, its degree of fragility, as well as its destination.
We work with several specialized partners and a network of local relays for certain countries:
– Cadogan Tate for complex deliveries and installations,
– Convelio for worldwide transport,
– Fedex for very urgent deliveries, we have custom-made crates made by a Parisian craftsman, which allows us to deliver in only a few days in the USA.
We take care of all customs formalities and all our shipments are insured by Axa Art.
We also offer an installation service (available for most major destinations).

Presentation of works

The artworks shown on this site are not all exhibited at the gallery. We have a large stock of works in Paris, so it is easy for us to organize a presentation of some of your choice. We also offer home presentations.
We are also at your disposal to schedule video-conference meetings with the gallery’s artists.

Financing and leasing of artworks

We work with several partners who specialize in art financing.
Financial leasing, or leasing with an option to buy (LOA), allows companies to acquire a work of art or a piece of furniture for the fitting out of their professional spaces, while benefiting from an advantageous financing solution.
– Vector of image and communication
– Tax savings with 100% deductible rent
– Spreading of rental charges from 13 to 48 months
– Possibility of exercising the purchase option with acquisition at residual value (LOA)
– Paintings, sculptures, photographs, design furniture, NFT…
– Renting with an option to buy (LOA) has financial and fiscal advantages:
The rents are deductible from the taxable result and reduce the IS (Companies) or the IRPP (liberal professions). Renting allows you to spread the cost of the purchase over several years.
– Investing in art in a company
In addition to article 238 bis AB of the General Tax Code, leasing encourages the introduction of works of art in professional spaces, supports artistic creation and encourages companies to spread the values of creativity and openness. At the end of the lease contract, the works are sold for a residual value.
This financing comes within the framework of the decoration and fitting out of offices in account 6068 of the general accounting plan, with the condition of exhibiting the works in a place accessible to the public within the company (provisions applicable in France).
